Dear Prospective Buyer ... We have truly enjoyed our 8+ years at 934 Jackson Street. We
bought the house in the spring of 2001 and it was a complete mess. But under
the nicotine stained walls, dirty brown carpeting and falling apart bathroom we
saw a gem. All the rooms are nicely sized and laid out in an inviting manner.
It is a perfect place for a family to entertain, have overnight guests, relax
and call home.
We really love this home and all the improvements we have
made. We love the built-in cabinets in the living room and dining room and
crown molding. We love the fireplace and had the hardwood floors refinished in
every room. The house gets lots of sunshine and fresh air. We replaced the
light fixtures in every room (except the front hallway) with period originals
& replicas. We added double paned windows and insulation in the basement
& attic, which makes the house cozy & quiet. We updated the bathroom to
make it look original and maximize space. In the kitchen we added a dishwasher
and some cabinets, a subway tiled backsplash and installed the double windows
over the sink. Although the electrical & heating systems are original they
have worked perfectly fine for us over the past 8+ years. The amount of storage
space is startling – almost a full basement, which we lined with shelves, and a
single car garage great for bikes & outdoor gear. The driveway can easily
accommodate multiple cars. We added the laundry chute in the back hallway
closet to eliminate the need for bulky laundry baskets upstairs. We added the
front loading washer & the gas dryer to the storage area. The front &
back gardens are full of low maintenance & low water plants, along with 3
plum trees (non-fruit bearing) which get the most beautiful blooms in the
spring & foliage in the summer.
Our neighbors are friendly & generous. We will miss them
dearly but have made some solid friendships over the years. Albany has a
wonderful preschool and the school system is outstanding. We think the location
is wonderful. You can walk to any of the fantastic amenities on Solano Ave –
movie theatre, restaurants, post office, dry cleaners, grocery stores and
dozens of retailers – as well as the waterfront and many great parks. There is
easy access to the freeway and El Cerrito Plaza BART is a walk away.
